1. Start with the finished use

Tell us what you are making and how it should feel. Apparel, swimwear, blankets, bags and interiors each need different stretch, drape and durability.

2. Compare the specification

Check fibre composition, GSM, printable width and stretch direction. These details affect hand feel, coverage, recovery and how much fabric your pattern needs.

3. Order from one yard

Our standard minimum is one yard, so you can test artwork, colour and fabric choice before moving into repeat production.

4. Confirm with a sample

Compare texture, thickness and stretch using our sample book. Then print a one-yard sample of your own artwork to check scale and colour on the chosen base. White fabric photographs show the unprinted base texture. Refer to the listed specification and confirm the feel with a physical sample.

How do I choose the right base?

Start with the finished use, then compare composition, weight, stretch and printable width. Our team can recommend options from your sample or reference.

Can I order samples first?

Yes. A sample book is the best way to compare hand feel, thickness, stretch and colour before production.

What do width and GSM mean?

Printable width is the usable width of the fabric, measured in centimetres. GSM means grams per square metre. GSM helps compare weight, but does not by itself describe thickness, softness or stretch.

How do yards convert to shipping weight?

1 yard = 0.9144 metres. Net kilograms = width in metres × GSM × ordered yards × 0.9144 ÷ 1,000. For example, a 165 cm wide, 240 GSM fabric weighs approximately 0.3621 kg per yard. The cart combines all selected fabrics and adds packaging for the whole order.

Where do I choose a base and upload my design?

Use Print Your Own Fabric to select a family, compare the base specifications and enter whole yards. Upload each design separately and include any exact repeat dimensions in your production notes.

How large should my print be for children’s clothing?

Check the motif against the smallest garment panel in your size range. Tell us the intended motif or repeat width and height in centimetres. Print a sample at that size before cutting; screen zoom does not show the final printed scale.

Will the same artwork look identical on different bases?

Fabric texture, fibre and the screen used to view a design can affect how colour appears. Compare physical print samples on each chosen base when coordinating a collection.
